Innovation In Giving is new website which aims to make it quicker and simpler to match volunteers with opportunities and remove bureaucracy from volunteer management and recruitment.

The idea behind is to increase volunteering by streamlining the volunteer management process, allowing individuals to instantly access opportunities, as well as offering a portal where volunteers can record their achievements, skills and key information, such as details of DBS checks.

The beta website is being piloted with 13 organisations to test the instant access concept and the site’s functionality.

The online multi-platform tool provides:

• Brokerage of volunteers and organisations to instantly connect without bureaucratic barriers.
• Recording of volunteer hours – through the use of an ID card / number – which builds up a profile for the volunteer – ie, a portable, live CV of volunteering activity.
• The removal of administration needs of organisations at registration, DBS checks and collation of volunteering hours.
• Full volunteer management capacity – including monitoring and reporting functionality.

The award

Support Staffordshire (previously SMCVS) was awarded £50,000 through the Volunteer Centre Programme to develop the platform and test new ways to streamline the process of managing and recruiting volunteers.
